The role of Paraoxonase 1 in Alopecia Areata, a Marker and a Severity Index

Background: Alopecia areata (AA) is an immune-mediated form of hair loss that affects all ages and both sexes.Paraoxonase 1 (PON1) esterase enzyme has lipophilic antioxidant power; it one the endogenousfree-radical-scavenging systems in human body. This work was to detect serum PON1 level patients withalopecia areata.Methods: 60 subjects, 30 AA controls. Full history, general local clinical examination, clinicalassessment degree collection blood for investigations paraoxonase1 measurement wereto participants.Results: The study revealed significant decrease (54.083 ± 25.464 μg/L) incomparison controls (69.479 17.012 μg/L). more male than female.Conclusions: Serum levels are lower patients. An association between oxidative stress andpathogenesis this auto immune disease identified. Attenuation might be a relevanttherapeutic approach would useful recommend additional drugs with effect treatment.
